370J Connect

UX group design project

Identifying solutions to improve cross-departmental collaboration at NYU’s Metrotech Brooklyn Campus

Design Team: Yichen Duan, Athia Fadhlina, Melissa Henrey, Kemeng Zhai

SOLUTION

The 370J Connect app: a hybrid social media matchmaking app and integrated events calendar that helps students connect with like-minded peers and find events that help them build their social and professional networks.

  • Following the double-diamond design process model, my teammates and I worked on a semester-long UX research and design project.

Located at NYU's Brooklyn Metrotech campus, 370 Jay is a building with a rich history that's also ripe for opportunities. 370 Jay houses various programs across different NYU schools: Tandon School of Engineering, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, and Tisch School of the Arts. The goal of 370 Jay is to become a 'hub' where digital media, arts, and technology programs can come together and collaborate. More needs to be done to realize this collaborative vision.

  • Identify stakeholders and design solutions focused on improving collaboration at 370 Jay St, NYU’s Brooklyn Campus.

  • Phase 1: Formulate a user research plan, conduct user interviews, and synthesize our findings into How Might We questions.

Phase 2: Develop a Figma prototype and run a usability test of our proposed solution.
