EDUCATIONAL MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION || UX
INTRODUCTION
Most elementary-aged children are currently learning from home due to the pandemic and many of the roughly 15% of American students with learning differences aren’t getting the support they need in order to learn, progress, or prevent regression. The lack of external structure and routine makes learning incredibly hard for those with executive function challenges. For the Digital Media Design for Learning course, I explored the needs of my target audience and created a 4-minute educational video that explores these issues from multiple perspectives while proposing some simple solutions.
CHALLENGE
Parents and caregivers have stepped up to serve as de-facto special educators and facilitators, yet few have the training or experience required to appropriately support their children. There are many challenges: our viewers are likely juggling incredible amounts of stress caused by…2020…, many commitments, and have little-to-no time to focus on learning the content. Yet, they’re also highly motivated because they understand they can’t afford not to learn how to support their kids better either.
NEED
Our viewers need an introduction to the content in ways that are clear and not too technical or complicated. They need the video to be short, sweet, and to the point, but also not superficial. They need actionable strategies and a learning experience that leaves them feel hopeful and empowered.
